God Mode
“Pokémon Quest” is a semi-automatic battle RPG and base building that sets out on an exploration to find treasure with Pokemon on Kakukoro Island, which floats in a world where everything is “scratchy”. Pokemon from the original “Pocket Monsters Red and Green” will appear as cute 3D models that look like dice, and will unfold in a strategic battle.
Pokémon Quest recipes
In Pokemon Quest, obtaining new Pokemon isn't like other games - you won't be battling wild pokemon to throw Poke Balls at - there are no trainers in this game! Instead, you'll need to collect ingredients and cook up some tasty stews to attract potential pokemon to your side. See below for more information on how cooking works, and which food will help you get the right Pokemon for the job.
Cooking Pots
There are 4 different cooking pots in the game which require increasingly larger amounts of ingredients but reward the player with higher level Pokemon each time.
Recipe Terminology
There are certain words used in recipes which hint at which ingredients, and how much, need to be used to get a certain result. First, the words that describe how much of an ingredient needs to be used isn't at all arbituary.
Then, the recipe will describe the ingredients.
Recipe Quality
Each recipe has a quality which determines the length of time the recipe will take before it's ready and the rarity of the Pokémon that will be brought to the camp. Adding Precious or Very Precious ingredients increases the quality points of a recipe, Small ingredients being worth 1 point, Precious being worth 2, Very Precious ingredients are worth 3 points and Mystical are worth 4.
Generally, Special Quality recipes will attract much rarer Pokemon that will not appear otherwise.
Pokémon Quest Gameplay
The Pokémon you know and love have turned into...cubes! Head out in search of treasure with your cube-shaped Pokémon buddies on Tumblecube Island—a land where everything is a cube! Your goal is to find the awesome goodies said to be hidden on the island ! The Pokémon you know and love from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue appear in this game.
Battle by tapping! The simple controls make for lively and fun battles! Danger is lurking, so you’ll need the help of your Pokémon buddies on your expeditions on the island. When wild Pokémon appear, your Pokémon will battle ferociously and knock them out one after another!
Befriend Pokémon to make your own unique team!
You can use the items you get from your expeditions to befriend more Pokémon or make your Pokémon stronger. Make more buddies to create a team that’s all your own, and head out on more expeditions!
Spruce up your base camp with cute decorations!
Your base camp is your home for this adventure, and you can spruce it up however you like with cute and fun decorations! These decorations can also make your expeditions on the island more beneficial.
Pokémon Quest guide
Get a Defensive Pokemon
This is one of the most important things you can do. Put a defensive Pokemon with a TON of HP on your team to work as an anchor. They will be your survivor that never goes down. Get a Pokemon like Onix or Golem with Harden, then give it as many Sharing Stones as possible to beef up your whole team. This strategy should absolutely help you hang on in even the toughest boss fights.
Horde Those Ingredients
I don’t suggest throwing ingredients into your pot willy-nilly. Later on, you’ll unlock better pots that require even more ingredients per recipe, and you will run out fast. If you want to be really strategic, think of the specific Pokemon you want, then look up the Recipes list on IGN’s Pokemon Quest wiki to see exactly what to cook so that nothing goes to waste.
Team Composition Matters
Building on that defensive Pokemon tip, think about how each Pokemon on your team covers the others. Having trouble getting past a tough boss? Consider using two Pokemon that can stat-boost your team, or getting a Pokemon that can confuse your opponent with Supersonic or Confuse Ray. Check out Best Pokemon in Pokemon Quest for more details on which Pokemon to choose and how to build a team.
Pay Attention To Power Stones
Some power stones grant more than just an HP or Attack boost. These are game-changing. Hit Healing is one of the best abilities to stack especially with squishy, damage-dealing Pokemon like Alakazam. Natural Healing is a must with tank Pokemon; and Critical hit rate combined with critical damage can make a huge difference on damage output. It’s not all about the raw numbers!
Moves Are Just as Important as Pokemon
Some Pokemon could be great in theory, but without the right moves, they’re really not all that. An Onix without harden is crippled, and an Alakazam without a damaging move is useless.
Look At Bingo Bonuses
Bingo Bonuses activate when three Power Stones in a row line up. Each pokemon has Three Bingo Bonuses, and each of these can be one of three. Before putting time and effort into a Pokemon, check its Bingo Bonus, as they can completely change the Pokemon for the better. For example, one of Snorlax’s bonuses gives it plus 550 attack, giving it some of the highest raw stats in the game.
Type Doesn’t Matter (Much)
Unlike your traditional Pokemon games, weaknesses don’t come into effect in Pokemon Quest. Your Vulpix won’t take extra damage from a water-type move, but it WILL get a strength bonus if you send it to Gloomy Grove. Move types do come into play, however, with Bingo Bonuses. Some Pokemon get boosts to only certain types of attacks, so pay attention to this to get the most out of your Pokemon.
Buying DLC
If you are planning on spending money on DLC, use it wisely. Do not worry about the Power Stones, buying the Expedition Pack(s) is much better. You can eventually obtain all the Power Stones throughout the game. Also, if you're thinking about buying the DLC, do it earlier than later. The free Pokemon you'll get will benefit you earlier in the game, as will the special decorations and PM Ticket boost.
Completing the Pokedex
If you gotta catch 'em all, then focus on completing the game first before completing the Dex. Then, you will be able to level up Pokemon quicker to evolve.
Don't Forget to Collect PM Tickets
PM Tickets are useful when you fail a mission and want to collect tickets, to refill your battery, and to purchase useful decorations that will help you progress faster.
