Root Board Game Description

Play the digital adaptation of the beloved tabletop board game. Root is a game of adventure and war where 2 to 4 players battle for control of a vast wilderness.

The nefarious Marquise de Cat has seized the great woodland, intent on harvesting its riches. Under her rule, the many creatures of the forest have banded together. This Alliance will seek to strengthen its resources and subvert the rule of Cats. In this effort, the Alliance may enlist the help of the wandering Vagabonds who are able to move through the more dangerous woodland paths. Though some may sympathize with the Alliance’s hopes and dreams, these wanderers are old enough to remember the great birds of prey who once controlled the woods.

Meanwhile, at the edge of the region, the proud, squabbling Eyrie have found a new commander who they hope will lead their faction to resume their ancient birthright.

The stage is set for a contest that will decide the fate of the great woodland. It is up to the players to decide which group will ultimately take root.

This is a board game style war turn strategy chess game. In the game, you need to recruit wanderers to become your combat power, gradually annihilate the enemy army, and ultimately liberate this forest, allowing small animals to live a peaceful life.

Is Root Board Game fun

Very well executed. I have had a freeze a few times in different situations, no biggie.I don't like how long it takes to get updates or new releases and the AI leaves much to be desired. Online could be better. You either have friends that you can play with or you are stuck trying to find people to play with and that almost will never happens. If you had a search button and other people could too and it just auto put you with 2 or 3 others, that would be great.

Recent adaptation. Many issues, including: No control over the recap (why can't we skip it at least, or turn that off? Why does it do a FULL recap every time I go to another app and return?); dragging cards is already main way to select, so why do I have to do long-press to see them instead of just clicking like in Twilight Struggle?; UI defaults to JUST under full zoom-out, which is when art is too tiny to appear but symbols don't replace it yet. Animations annoying. I could go on.
