MyObservatory

MyObservatory is a software designed to assist users in data observation and analysis. The software is accurate, fast, and convenient, very user-friendly, allowing everyone to know the weather in advance, and convenient for planning when going out for business. It's very good!

The MyObservation function includes

Data collection: MyObservatory may allow users to collect data from different sources, including sensors, databases, and other data streams.

Data processing: The software may provide data cleaning, transformation, and aggregation functions so that users can prepare data for further analysis.

Visualization: MyObservatory may include visualization tools that allow users to create charts, maps, and other visualization elements to better understand data.

Alarm and Notification: The software may have an alarm function that allows users to receive notifications when specific conditions are met, such as data anomalies or key indicators exceeding thresholds.

Reports and Dashboards: MyObservatory may provide reports and dashboard functionality, allowing users to regularly monitor data and generate reports on data trends and patterns.

MyObservatory Introduction

My Observatory is a popular weather mobile application that provides a range of personalized weather services. The application will display real-time weather provided by the user, specified location, or selected weather station, such as temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, wind direction, wind speed, and weather photos. The weather photos and rainfall data are updated every five minutes and every fifteen minutes, respectively. Other data is updated every ten minutes, and the update time is displayed at the bottom of the homepage.

MyObservation features

1. Users can choose the automatic location service provided by their phone in the "Set My Location" section, or set their own "My Location" on the map. This location will be displayed on the homepage and in the "My Weather Report" function. If the location update is not successful, "My Location" will be displayed as the last successfully obtained location or "Hong Kong Observatory". "My location" or the meteorological data displayed by your location will be provided by nearby meteorological stations, but it does not necessarily mean that the meteorological stations are located in the same area. If there is no data available from nearby weather stations, data from the Observatory headquarters, Kings Park, and Star Ferry Terminal weather stations will be used instead, and an icon ▲ will also appear on the left side of the update time.

2. The notification service of this application (currently only supporting point rainfall and lightning forecasting) needs to be provided through Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) push service. The Hong Kong Observatory cannot guarantee that users can successfully or timely receive push notifications through this application. Users should not use the notification service of mobile applications as the only way to receive important weather information. At the same time, it may take five to twenty minutes, or even longer, depending on factors such as network usage and the quality of user phone connections, to send notifications to the observatory and be received by the application.

3. "My Observatory" is a free program, but users need to pay the data usage fee to the mobile network service provider. When using roaming services, the related fees may be very high. Please ensure that the "data roaming" option on your mobile device is turned off. At the same time, the application requires users to have the following authorization: "full internet access rights", "view Wi Fi status", "view network status", and download weather data from the internet.

4. Due to differences in terrain and altitude between the weather station and the user, as well as discrepancies between the estimated position of the mobile device and the actual situation, please note that the weather data displayed by the application may differ from the actual situation in your location when using "My Observatory".

5. The clock on the homepage of this application will automatically calibrate with the online time server of the observatory, and the time displayed on the clock may differ from the time on the smartphone.

6. Using fixed point rainfall and lightning forecast notifications or fixed point heavy rain notification services will slightly increase power consumption and data downloads. If users want to save program power, they can turn on the notification service function on rainy days or before outdoor activities, and turn off the function on sunny days or after completing outdoor activities.

In order for users to have real-time access to important weather information such as weather warnings, special weather alerts, designated rainfall and lightning forecasts, "My Observatory" will automatically notify users of the above information based on their settings. This feature requires user authorization to automatically turn it on when turned on.

8. This application provides a link for users to browse the Observatory's Facebook page, and users can choose whether to log in to their personal Facebook account. After logging in, you can use more Facebook features. Please pay attention to the precautions on the Facebook page and the privacy policies of the Facebook platform when using it.

When there are thunderstorms in certain areas of Hong Kong and the thunderstorm warning issued by the Observatory describes the affected area, a red dot will appear on the thunderstorm warning icon on the application homepage. When the icon is pressed, a map will be displayed to view the areas affected by thunderstorm warnings.
